How does my daughters secret end
Justine Nina Dobrev feels guilty because she helped them plan the robbery. The boyfriend Brent Steve Byers becomes the good guy when she tries to protect Denise and Justine Jennifer Grant from the bad guy, the gangleader Reggie James Gilbert , who is putting pressure onto Brent to control his girlfriend.
Justine, Denise and Brent have a meeting in the deep of a forest, because the pressure put on by Detective Merrin Catherine Mary Stewart is getting too tough, and they need to find some closure to the matter. Reggie appears, and threatens them with a gun. In the ensuing shooting. Reggie realises that it's Denise who's putting pressure onto all of them: with Denise dead, both Brent and Justine are weaker, and they won't have the strength to turn him to the police.
Reggie shoots Denise, which makes Justine cry and finally pushes her to call the police. Brent and Reggie fight over the gun. Now, it's Reggie who ends up shot and wounded, and Brent cries over him. Later on, detective Merrin tells them that Brent has admitted everything, and he'll go to jail. For some reason, Dobrev is immediately employed as the getaway car lookout, although she has just learned about the crime and acts like a flight risk.
Turns out, she can be trusted to go along with the plan After the robbery, Ms. Grant frets about daughter Dobrev's increasing strange behavior.
Grant is the real-life daughter of Cary Grant and Dyan Cannon. She should worry, because this TV Movie is incredibly dumb. Even worse is the level of responsibility the story allows the daughter to take for her participation in the crime. For what it's worth, Mr. Gilbert does well with his sleazy character and Catherine Mary Stewart is always an attractive police detective. A 17 year old girl inadvertently gets mixed up in a robbery planned by her boyfriend on the store her mother works in.
This lifetime movie isn't ground breaking but it's surprisingly watchable thanks to a good cast and good dialog. Jennifer Grant as the mother is quite good. The lovely pre Vampire Diaries Nina Dobrev takes a role that could have been annoying and makes her quite sympathetic especially when she does some irritating things.
It has a lesson about consequences about having the wrong boyfriend. Listen to your Moms girls! Worth a watch. Right on the Button!!! It would be difficult to imagine any greater lapses in judgment than those of young Justine Dysart in "My Daughter's Secret. Justine unknowingly provided her beau Brent and his older brother Reggie with insider information into how to rob the store where her mother works.
The excellent performances by the two actresses playing mother and daughter held the film together. Denise sensed that something was amiss with her daughter.
Because of her good eye for detail, Denise recognized the button found by the police in the getaway vehicle as belonging to her daughter's clothing, and she finally came to the realization of her daughter's complicity in the robbery and the death of kind Albert.
At one point, waxing philosophical as she is getting drunk, Justine tells her bestie Courtney that "if you stare long enough into the abyss, then the abyss will stare into you. It was only due to the love a devoted mother that Justine was not staring at a 6' X 9' prison cell, instead of the beautiful home and pampered life that was gifted to her. THAT'S the standard of this 'film' - made by people who seem to think the entire outside world is as dumb as them!
RobertMGomez 9 September I think it was, you can tell by the horrible everything and the even worse feeling you get when you watch it. It makes me sad that movies like this can make it onto an actual DVD.
In fact I did get quite emotional in places as just the thought of it really hit me hard. The only thing keeping Claire going is her search for answers. Her search leads Claire on a roller coaster of a journey. I loved how the author takes the reader in one direction to totally do a U turn and send t What an opening to a story! I loved how the author takes the reader in one direction to totally do a U turn and send them hurtling towards a different one.
I was so sure at times that I knew where it was heading only to be totally wrong. The author grabbed my attention from the first page and kept me there all the way through. Great read and look forward to more from the author. My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for an advanced readers copy of this book.

I say all of that, because even knowing that, I hated pretty much everyone in this book. The mother, Claire, is in the throes of grief after her daughter's suicide and after a bad relationship but her abuser turned good, y'all! She won't stop making that point.
Even in flashbacks she was intolerable and I kind of understood why her daughter might not have wanted to go to her, which is kind of the opposite of what we were supposed to believe.
Her new husband was barely a character beyond the everyman and the reformed abuser had no real emotion beyond also anger, but more controlled anger. I have no real thoughts on Julia, the daughter, beyond wondering how complicit she really was and if so, why? I saw the twist coming. Maybe just read these kinds before, but it didn't really shock me. All of the swerves I guessed before they happened and I only stuck with it to see if I was right. The story was compelling enough, but damn, I hated everyone in this book and was glad to end it.

If you need to put that much information into a simple title telling not showing then I don't think that this is going to be a book worth reading. Too bad because the synopsis sounds fairly decent. I'm not changing my rating for something I feel so strongly about. Goodreads allows this rating before reading -amen. Mar 10, Melike rated it liked it Shelves: , mystery-thriller , netgalley.
On Halloween night Claire finds her year-old daughter, Julia hanging from the front porch. Julia was in a secret relationship. That opening chapter was the best one in the book.
After that, I was greatly disappoi On Halloween night Claire finds her year-old daughter, Julia hanging from the front porch. After that, I was greatly disappointed. It was that obvious. Claire was also unlikable which made it even worse for me. If she were a likable character it would have made reading the book more tolerable. The ending made me pretty upset as well. Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review I strongly disliked this book. It left me feeling all disgusted and dirty, which is not something I want from a book. It started out okay. I didn't love the characters, but they were okay.
I figured out who 'x' was and couldn't bear reading Cla You can find this review and others on my blog SleepySamReads! I absolutely hate who 'x' turned out to be. I really just feel like Julia wouldn't have done that. From everything else we learned about her throughout the story she seemed like a very nice young woman. I just can't imagine what she did. That makes me feel like maybe there was some conditioning or something going on. I have more thoughts about the ending, but I can't go into any detail because of spoilers.
Mar 19, Renita D'Silva rated it it was amazing. This is such a beautiful, heart-wrenching book. A wonderful, unforgettable story. I really loved this amazing book. One of my top reads of the year! Very highly recommended! Feb 14, Paula Sealey rated it liked it Shelves: fiction , netgalley-books. If you enjoy very emotional dramas with a twist, then this is the book for you, for me, it was all just a bit too bleak. It's easy to feel sympathy with heartbroken Claire, as she tries to comes to terms with her daughter's death.
Her subsequent investigations into why her daughter died are the main part of the plot and this just didn't keep my attention, mainly because there was no reprieve from the sadness. Right from the start when Claire's daughter is found, to the end when the villain is co If you enjoy very emotional dramas with a twist, then this is the book for you, for me, it was all just a bit too bleak.
Right from the start when Claire's daughter is found, to the end when the villain is confronted, it was just a very sad tale and I had to put the book down a fair few times to give myself a break.
I did appreciate the author's writing, but the story was a bit too melancholy for my personal taste. Mar 18, Els rated it it was amazing.
The author really knows how to catch your attention with the first chapter. It left me with goosebumps all over. A lot of people do not believe in female intuition. I wonder why because it has already saved a lot of lives and maybe animals are more clever than humans. Why is it that everybody finds it hard to believe when she is convinced that there is more to it than the eye can see?
It sho The author really knows how to catch your attention with the first chapter. I guessed rather early on who played the main part in the letters, but that did disturb me at all.
The story was too good to let that spoil the pleasure. I wanted to know how the author would reveal everything and what would come to the surface.
The book is a bucket filled to the brim with emotions. And then there is the last chapter where … No, no no, I am not going to say more. Mar 09, Kellie rated it liked it. This is the story of the mother of a young girl who is found hanging on her front porch on Halloween.
In her grief, she goes looking for a reason behind why her daughter could possibly want to do such a tragic thing when she seemingly had it all. While visiting her daughters dorm room, she located a box of letters that brings the reader into guessing what the secret was who might have been behind it. The story was well thought out, though I did guess all of the surprises before I read about them.
An enjoyable read, 3. Thanks the Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book. Feb 21, Belinda rated it liked it. After reading a few of her books, readers soon learn this author does not produce fluffy, chicklit, but rather very intense, emotionally charged stories. Having said that 3 stars. Having said that, I was slightly disappointed with this book.
I was expecting a more complex and twisty story but it was fairly straightforward. I also guessed who the secret man x was within the first couple of chapters. Not a terrible read, but I would recommend her previous books over this one, in particular Blame which I thought was excellent.
Thanks kindly to Netgalley, Nicole Trope and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book. My first read from this author and I was pleased overall. It's a story that tackles two of the biggest stigmas to date, domestic violence and suicide.
Although I couldn't entirely jel with all the characters, I could definitely understand Claire's incredible grief when it came to her daughter's suicide. It's a tremendously shocking and sudden lose that many find it hard to comprehend. I felt that. Is it depressing, yes. But it's also very real, and definitely strikes a chord among readers. It ce My first read from this author and I was pleased overall. It certainly makes you think especially when it's so prevalent in society today.
And then there's the domestic violence. Shocking, infuriating, emotion provoking, and senseless. Again, it's a topic that is current and needs to be talked about in order to spread awareness. I felt the author did justice to both topics and thank her for making it a highlighted topic in her story. The more it's talked about, the more we're looking for it.
It was well written, overall, I did come across a few slowish moment and no real twists although I was left emotionally touched and happy that I crochet my blankets and donate them to a domestic violence safe house program! Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for my ebook copy for review.
Apr 01, Maggie rated it it was ok. When they open the door they discover that Claire's daughter has committed suicide.
Julia was supposed to be enjoying her life at college- why on earth has she seen this as the only way out? Julia was involved in a torrid love affair with an older man. I began to dislike her more with each page. When it came to the final denouncement it came as no surprise- I'd guessed it a long time ago. All in all a distasteful read. I gave it two stars because I was involved enough to see it to the bitter end.
An amazingly heartbreaking story that could not be more timely. Written exceptionally well and with heart. Mar 18, Vivienne rated it it was ok Shelves: womens-fiction , disappointment , domestic-drama. I expect that I am likely to be in the minority but for me this novel had some major issues. Claire wakes one night to find that her daughter, Julia is dead.
She is naturally deeply bereaved struggling to understand why her beautiful and seemingly happy daughter took her own life. While I found the opening chapter powerful, my relationship with this novel faltered soon after.
